Meldreth Parish Council Serving the people of Meldreth

MELDRETH FUTURES HAS BEEN SET UP TO REVIEW FUTURE PROJECTS WITHIN THE VILLAGE. WE ARE ACTIVELY SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR PROJECTS.

Members of the Meldreth Futures group are volunteers who live in Meldreth. We meet every two months and report to the Parish Council. Our role is advisory only. We recommend projects to the Parish Council to receive funding from various sources (such as money received from solar developments) where it is often stipulated that funding is spent on community projects and improvements. As an example, we have provided funding for a tent for Guides and equipment for the newly refurbished Pavillon's kitchen.

You do not have to be part of a group to apply - it might be something you feel passionately about in the village.

The group is also looking at wider improvements for Meldreth with a longer-term view on capital projects.

SOME OF OUR PROJECTS

Meldreth Tennis Courts

Meldreth Tennis Club's courts have been beautifully refurbished and were opened in August 2017. This involved a lot of hard work and dedication from the Club's members. Our group were pleased to support this through providing funding for equipment and training for junior players.

Melbourn Village College Mini Bus

Funding was provided to assist with costs of a minibus at Melbourn Village College. This enables pupils living in Meldreth to travel home after enrichment activities

1st Melbourn Guides

A new tent was purchased by 1st Melbourn Guides using our funding. This was first used in 2016 by Guides who live in Meldreth. It will be used at least once a year at their annual summer camp.

Melbourn Christmas Tree Festival

Funding enables Meldreth's annual Christmas Tree Festival to go ahead. The funding covers running costs for this village tradition which attracts many visitors.

Meldreth Sports Pavilion

Funding was provided to enable the purchase of kitchen equipment and crockery for the newly refurbished sports pavilion on the recreation ground. This will be available to many clubs within the village and for private hire.

ALTERNATIVE FUNDING

Unfortunately, Meldreth Futures will not be able to support every application for funding. There are many other funding sources available to community groups. For larger projects, funding may be sought from multiple sources - it may be worth considering "match" funding.

You may wish to consider:

Additionally, many national companies may offer assistance. Search their websites for "grant", "community", "corporate social responsibility" and "funding". Other businesses with local service contracts such as the waste company, the water company and the train operator may help, as may some local businesses. Remember, some firms may not offer cash but will offer gifts in kind.
