Meldreth Parish Council Serving the people of Meldreth

Meldreth Village

Lying just north of Melbourn and the A10 Royston to Cambridge road and some 10 miles from Cambridge itself, the community has about 2400 inhabitants. The village is linear in form being over 2 miles in length with a railway station at one end and the church at the other. Roughly speaking the geographical and social centre of the village is around the village store where the village hall, the junior school and the public house and the bulk of housing lie. The Greenwich Meridian runs through the village.

Commuters are attracted to Meldreth by the presence of the railway which provides a good service to Kings Cross (approx. 1 hr 10 mins) and in the other direction to the university city of Cambridge (20 Minutes). About 80 businesses are located in the village, as well as a school for the disabled (SCOPE ). The housing is a pleasant mix of period, often thatched, cottages and brick houses of varying age and types.

Bus services exist with destinations of Royston & Cambridge though the paucity of the service is a problem for many people without their own transport. If this is a concern for you please check out and have your say by downloading Cambridge Future Transport's Questionnaire and Poster.

The most convenient Cambridge Park & Ride facility for Meldreth residents is located at Trumpington on the south outskirts of the City at M11 Junction 11.
